What - not who - is on your team?
I came across this post from Ruben Hassid last week and it stuck with me over the weekend. It’s easy to visualize but so often solopreneurs, entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs get slowed down by the day-to-day of maintaining, not just growing an idea. But there are lots of little hacks to help you compete like a team of 10 or 20 even if you are not.
Where do you get your financial advice?
Right now 33% of Gen Z, 23% of Millennials get their financial advice from social media. That number is certain to rise. This Wall Street Journal piece is excellent in showing both the growth and potential legal grey areas for creators. But the main takeaway is even simpler. People are seeking creators, in a moment of uncertainty, in a high pressure industry, because that is who they trust. If it works here, it works everywhere.
Are our social media habits pointing to something?
This is something I have been thinking about for a while and Ian Shepherd put it into words (read here). There’s an economy of scale that makes it nearly impossible to create a new large scale social network. But I don’t think that’s what users want. They seem to be craving and gravitating toward ideas that are off grid, less public and allow them to organize as small groups. Just a hunch but the next big social media network won’t be trying to be seen.
