Objective

In a world full of Limited Time Offers, Five Guys was a newbie. Our objective was to launch their first-ever LTO in a landscape of holiday LTOs.

On top of being late to the LTO party, this milkshake flavor was not exactly new for the holidays: candy cane. We had to make this launch feel unique.

Strategy

Luckily, this LTO was different. Five Guys wasn’t just introducing a Candy Cane Crunch milkshake, they were introducing a Candy Cane Crunch mix-in. Which means fans could mix candy cane in with other flavors like chocolate, peanut butter, strawberries, bacon, or all of the above and create the holiday shake of their dreams. The possibilities were our sweet spot–the twist on a classic that made the new Candy Cane Crunch LTO stand out. So, we didn’t just launch one holiday Limited Time Offer–we launched an Unlimited number. Well, almost unlimited. The Candy Cane Collection introduced 512 unique holiday milkshakes. 

We launched The Candy Cane Collection all over social, with TikToks, paid and organic posts, influencer love, and more, showing off all 512 holiday shakes. To get fans excited, we sent candy cane merch to people to Five Guys fans and to the top shake buyers of the past year. From there, milkshake magic happened.

Results

The Candy Cane Collection took off organically, with fans loving all the Candy Cane Crunch possibilities and experimenting with different combinations. Fans were quick to try it, increasing milkshake sales by 25% in the first day the campaign was in market. Even though Candy Cane Crunch was only available for a few weeks, the world took notice, making not just Five Guys’ first LTO–but the world’s first Unlimited Limited Time Offer– a huge success.
